How do I create a survey on homelessness?
Q. A class assignment in Sociology requires a survey to be used on the homelessness situation in our area. Any ideas?

A. It really depends on what your surveying. If your looking for how people became homeless, I would develop a simple set of noninvasive questions that will draw out the reasoning, it could also help discover some issues that might be prolonging their homelessness such as substance abuse. You can ask things like where did you live before, how long, before that, and what do you see as causing your loss of housing, things like that. The point being, be respectful just because someone lives on the street doesn't mean they don't have feelings, and no one like point blank whats wrong with you type questions. If your just looking for numbers most city governments keep tabs on this stuff, plus HUD is a good resource, as well as the alliance to end… [cont.]
