Homelessness (UK: sleeping rough) is the condition of people and social category of people who don't have a regular house or dwelling because they cannot afford, pay for, or are otherwise unable to maintain regular, safe, and adequate housing, or they lack, "fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence" The actual legal definition varies from country to country, or among different entities or institutions in the same country or region. The term homelessness may also include people whose primary nighttime residence is in a homeless shelter, in an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or in a public or private place not designed for use as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings. Some estimate that there are about 100 million homeless people worldwide. The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines a "chronically homeless" person as "an unaccompanied homeless individual with a disabling condition who has either been continuously homeless for a year or more, or has had at least four episodes of homelessness in the past three years." I would visit the national coalition against homelessness site, or try the volunteers of america. Another site to try is The Homeless Voice site, if you email the guy who runs it he might help you far better than I. Answered by anonymous - Tue Feb 19 03:31:33 2008 Will Obama fight homelessness by making homes mandatory, and fining people who don't have homes? Q. This approach worked so well in MA to reduce the number of people who don't have health insurance. They made health insurance mandatory, and if people didn't buy it, the state made them pay a fine equal to the cost of insurance. Why not take the same approach to joblessness or homelessness? Why not reduce homelessness by making homes mandatory, and if people don't get a home, make them pay a fine equal to the cost of a home? Wouldn't that make just as much sense? Why wouldn't that be just as effective for fighting homelessness? Asked by gws35 - Tue Jan 26 18:27:00 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I hear Canada will find it's citizen a home if they do not have one. But of course you don't have a choice where you live (and why should you) so a lot of good people are mixed in with low scum criminals and there is no segregation, in fact they make sure there isn't.
